Faviki was founded by Vuk Milicic who is a web designer from Belgrade in Serbia. He created faviki as a way to change how people use the internet and get rid of the messy organization that’s currently used on the internet.
Unlike other social bookmarking applications faviki focuses on bookmarking content using Wikipedia concepts as the tags. The tags used on the internet are all different which can make it difficult to find what you are looking for. However thanks to faviki a standard set of tags are used which will make it really easy to identity content that you are interested in. The system was created by the developer as a way to better organize content on the internet which will make it much easier to find out exactly what you are interested in looking for.
Faviki has a nice futuristic look and feel to it and makes it possible to use Wikipedia concepts to tag content. This makes sure that the content all has the same tags and can be searched for very easily. Yours and your friends bookmarks are categorized automatically which makes it really easy to keep track of content.
Signing up for the site isn’t very difficult you just need to click the small join link at the top of every page. This will take you to the membership form which is very short and easy to complete. You will need to enter your email address and also complete a human capatcha test. You can also sign in with a third party account including Google or Yahoo. Once you have completed the registration process you will then be sent an email which you need to read and follow the directions to activate your account.
Faviki is completely free to use and doesn’t seem to have any adverts on it either. It’s not clear how this site is earning revenue.
Faviki is aimed at people who want to categorize information on the internet using common tags. The tags are extracted from Wikipedia concepts which are really useful.
